Who Am I

So, who am i and what do i do? I don’t claim to be a affiliate marketing guru or a expert in serach engine optimisation, but do make money> Not loads, but enough to do thi full time. I work when i want ti, i go on holiday when i want and most imporantly, i do want i enjoy.

I got into affiliate marketing by acident i guess. A few year ago i ran a online hair care business, selling popular brands such as ghd, Kerastase and Paul Mitchell. It did ok, but i was struggling to compete on prices with many of the larger retailers. I did my online research, and found nearly all of my competitors were one these price comparison site, hair blogs and beauty blogs. I contacted the owners, eager to find out how i could get listed. This was when they said “what affiliate network are you part of”. Well, to be honest, i did’nt have a clue what they were talking about. So, i went about trying to find out what this was all about. I got in contact with a few Affiliate Networks to see what they could offer. In the end, i decided this was not for me. I was already struggling to make much profit due to the small profit margin on the products i sold, if i had to pay out between 5-8% of my basket total, to a affiliate i would have been struggling. But, it did give me a idea. I thought, i can get invloved as a affiliate rather than a merchant, and that what i do.

Then benefits of being a affilaite websites are great and suit be down to the ground. I no longer have to hold stock, pack orders, track orders and deal with customer complaints. I no longer have to worry about internet fraud, bank charge backs and my orders getting lost in the post (Royal Mail drag the insurance claim process out, so you end up giving up).

I now work in a number of different areas, including mobile phones, hair & beauty and some electronics. I am not a programmer or a web designer. In fact i have very limited skills. So how can i make money then, well i use blogging plastforms to get my sites built. Wordpress is my favourite, and is now, pretty much all i use. Wordpress is easy to use, add content and optimise for good search engine rankings. There are also some great plugins which will enhance your website and make things even easier. And, we should not forget the theme, there is a whole world of Wordpress theme which will allow you to get a really professional looking website.
